Ideas for Teacher PresentationsTips for Presenting at Conferences and In-Service Days Conferences and Conventions are easy to find on the Web. Look at the Web pages of associations you belong to, or use Google to find associations you think might be interested in fish consumption. Most associations have information about their upcoming conferences clearly posted on their Web sites. Contact your principal, superintendent, or another administrator to express your interest in presenting at a school or district in-service day. The administrator in charge of scheduling the in-service can help you develop your presentation, and direct you to past presenters for help and advice. Contact administrators from neighboring districts to discuss the possibility of presenting at their in-service days. This is a great opportunity to share with teachers you rarely have contact with. Have your presentation prepared at least a week before the day of the conference to give yourself time for practice and revisions. Practice your talk until you know exactly how long it will take. It's generally a good idea to take 1-2 minutes less than the time allotted to you. It's a good idea to practice at least once or twice in front of your peers or mentors before the conference. Schedule this far enough in advance of your talk to be able to incorporate the feedback you receive into your presentation (about a week). Find out what sort of media will be available for visual aids in your presentation, and decide what you would like to use. Prepare accordingly, but it's a good idea to have overheads or slides available as a backup in case more advanced technology fails.
