Education Specialist

Terri Hallesy

Terri Hallesy works in concert with Robin Goettel to implement the education component of the program. She provides planning and implementation on a number of projects and programs including: the Great Lakes Center for Ocean Science Excellence in Education (COSEE); Nab the Aquatic Invader! web site; Invasive Species University Service-Learning Course; and the school-based aspect of the Safe Disposal of Unwanted Medicine project. In addition, Terri co-teaches educator workshops and coordinates workshop materials, makes presentations at professional education conferences, seeks out new educational grant opportunities and writes grant proposals, and assists in evaluation efforts of education programs.

Robin and Terri’s efforts on the University of Illinois service-learning course were rewarded with an Extension Award of Excellence 2008 as part of an Outstanding or Innovative Programming Team.

Terri has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University.
