Martin Jaffe, the Environmental Planning specialist for the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program, teaches land use law and physical and environmental planning in the Department of Urban Planning & Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (where he also serves as Department Head). Marty is also a faculty fellow at UIC's Great Cities Institute, where he directs the Institute's Metropolitan Sustainability initiative.
Marty is currently serving on several advisory boards in the bistate Chicago metro area, including: the City of Chicago Department of Environment's Calumet Government Working Group, the Environmental Management Policy Committee of the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Agency, the Environment and Natural Resources and Regional Water Supply Planning Groups of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and the USEPA's Lake Michigan Forum.
He is also a member of the Historic Preservation Commission of Wilmette, Chicago.
Marty has a bachelor’s and a law degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and a Master of Law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.
