Beth Hinchey Malloy is one of three IISG liaisons to the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National Program Office. Beth draws upon Great Lakes ecosystem research conducted by U.S. EPA and associated IISG partners and transfers these scientific discoveries to coastal communities and resource managers. Beth also develops outreach products and programs related to Great Lakes ecosystem research and monitoring and conduct outreach events onboard the U.S. EPA research vessel, the R/V Peter Wise Lake Guardian.
One of Beth' s projects, Disposal of Unwanted Medicines: A Resource for Action in Your Community has been honored with numerous awards, including the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association's 2007 Best Education Program Award, the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable's 2007 MVP Pollution Prevention Award- Honorable Mention, and the University of Illinois Extension 2008 Outstanding or Innovative Programming Team Award – State.
Beth is also a member of the COSEE Great Lakes Advisory Board and the SOLEC Steering Committee.
Beth has an M.S. and Ph.D. in Marine Science from the College of William & Mary, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Notre Dame.
